The Web3 Foundation is funding a new project that aims to create a new genre of music based on NFTs (non-fungible tokens). The project, called Melonport, will use the Ethereum blockchain to create a marketplace for musicians and music fans to buy, sell, and trade music.
The project is being led by Thomas Bertani, who co-founded the Ethereum wallet provider Parity Technologies. Melonport will use the same technology that powers Parity’s wallet to create an NFT-based marketplace for music.
The idea is that musicians will be able to create and sell their music as NFTs, which can then be traded on the Melonport platform. Fans will be able to buy and sell music, and use the platform to support their favorite artists.
The project is still in its early stages, but the team is already working on a prototype of the platform. Melonport is currently accepting applications from musicians and music fans who want to be part of the beta test.
If you’re interested in learning more about Melonport, or getting involved in the beta test, you can check out the project’s website.
